First win of 2013 for Rikki Proffitt in British Historic Rally Championship
Rikki Proffit, pushing his Gantspeed powered 911 hard, took a significant first win of the season on the Mid Wales Stages in early March, putting him in joint overall lead of the Championship, and leading his Class and Category.
Next round of the National Championship is the Rally North Wales on April 6th/7th. We wish Rikki and Co-driver Phill Harrison all the best for a good run.
Proffitt wins Historic Category (Cat 1) in BHRC 2012
Rikki Profitt, in his Gantspeed powered 911, and co-driven by Phil Harrison, kept up the pressure on the final round of the British Historic Rally Championship, the Colin McRae Stages, to take an emphatic win on the event, and thus winning the Championship for Category 1 (Historic cars pre-68)
.
Our congratulations to Rikki and Phil for some fine performances over the season. They also came in third overall in the Championship.

SUCCESS FOR GANTSPEED IN TIGER RALLY 2012
Congratulations to David and Julie Harrison for bringing their Gantspeed
built and prepared 356A, known affectionally as "Molly", home in a
fantastic 6th place on the Tiger Rally. Run over several weeks, often in
extremely tough conditions, this event took place in Malaysia, Thailand
and Laos, finishing in early December.
"CLASSICS AT THE CASTLE 2012"
Gantspeed once again attended the "Classics at The Castle" event at
Castle Hedingham on 2nd September. A fine day greeted a good crowd who
came to one of the world's premier early Porsche events.
We exhibited our beautiful, recently restored 1959 RHD Meisen Blue
Cabriolet, which certainly attracted a great deal of attention. This car
is now For sale.
Also on our stand was the Gantspeed built 356A Peking to Paris
Rally car, shortly to be shipped out to South East Asia to compete in
the Tiger Rally. For part of the day we were joined by well known
Gantspeed built 356A rallycar, affectionately known as "Tigger".
For 911 interest, we brought along a customer's 911E, part way through a
total restoration, with paintwork recently completed and assembly
begun.
It was great to see the many friends who called by our stand, and also the new faces who came to see us.
PROPS AND PISTONS, EAST KIRKBY
August Bank Holiday Monday saw Robert Gant taking the recently
restored 1959 356A Cabriolet along to the nearby "Props and Pistons"
event, taking up a place in the Lincolnshire Region PCGB area along with
other menbers' cars.
With a great display of cars and planes, and with flying displays,
Lancaster demonstration and other features, a great day out was had by
all.
Unbeknown to Robert, the cars on display were being judged, and
Gantspeed's stunning 356A Cabriolet took the main "Best in Show" award!
This car has certainly been making an impact on people in recent weeks.
GANTSPEED LINCOLNSHIRE WOLDS TOUR 2012
The third Gantspeed Lincolnshire Wolds Tour took place on Sunday 24th June.
Robert Gant wields the Start Flag on the Tour!
For 2012, Gantspeed once again sponsored the Tour. Organised by the Lincolnshire Region of the Porsche Club Great
Britain, the Clerk of the Course Cliff Doe's route took participants along superb open
roads and through stunning unspoilt views through the County. The Tour is not a timed event, though participants are started off at two minute intervals to ensure safety. Each crew was able to follow the route using a
properly produced Road Book utilising mileages and "Tulip" junction diagrams. The event finished with a good meal at the famous Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa, and a good day out was had by all.
RALLY BARBADOS 2011
Another Motorsport success for Gantspeed!
Leading British driver Steve Perez took his "Kick Energy" Porsche 911 RSR to victory in the Historic section of Rally Barbados 2011. With Engine and Transmission built by Gantspeed, the car powered to an impressive win on the event.
We are well known for our competition engines and transmissions, and can produce serious winning equipment for all motorsport disciplines.
LINCOLNSHIRE SHOW 2012
The Lincolnshire Show is one of the biggest agricultural shows in the country, with a wide variety of exhibitors from far and wide. This was our second time as an exhibitor at the event.
The fabulous Gantspeed stand included a 911 2.4 Sportamatic, a 993 Carrera 4S, a 356B Cabriolet, the Gantspeed restored 190SL Mercedes (restoration completed 25 years ago!), a Ferrari F430 - in red of course, and, protected in the Gantspeed Gazebo a stunning 356A Cabriolet, finished in Meisen Blue, and nearing completion following a total restoration.
The Stand attracted a huge amount of interest and served to showcase our skills and services to a very broad public.
356A CABRIOLET RESTORATION
Like many cars of that era, the 1950s Porsche 356 in its various forms suffered from bodyshell corrosion. Half a century of use (and sometimes abuse) also often leaves its mark with poorly executed previous repairs and accident damage. As one of the leading restoration companies, we are well used to dealing with such issues, and have the expertise and skills to cope with this.
At the end of 2010 we took on the restoration of a 1959 356A cabriolet, a project that has certainly tested these skills. The car proved to be in such a poor state that we have had to virtually reconstruct the whole bodyshell. After many months of painstaking reconstruction work in our workshops, the bodyshell then had leadwork, final preparation and the painting process completed.
Since then, we have been busy with the painstaking process of reassembly, with all parts undergoing restoration prior to fitment.
Close to completion, but awaiting delivery of the engine from the customer, we exhibited the car on our stand at the |Lincolnshire Show in June.
With engine now installed, and initial mileage put on the car, we took the car to Classics at the Castle at Hedingham on September 2nd. Another old "Classic" saved, with hopefully a long life ahead of it. This car certainly is a stunner, resplendent in its Meisen Blue paintwork, and attracted a great deal of attention at Hedingham.

RALLY PREPARATION FOR OTHER MARQUES
It is perhaps not so well known that Gantspeed has many years of experience in rally and motorsport preparation of marques other than our beloved Porsches.
As an example, in recent times we have become deeply involved with the development of a 1967 Volvo Amazon forest rallycar, campaigned successfully in the British Historic Rally Championship.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you feel that we
could be of assistance with your rally or race preparation needs, whether it be for Porsche, Volvo, Ford or other marques. We have extensive experience of preparation for Road Rallying, Stage Rallying, Long Distance Events and Circuit Racing.
